Contains HIMYM spoilers if you’re not up to date with the US
So I always liked the song that was played in the Farhampton episode when the mother showed up at the train station, so I decided to look it up so I could listen to it.
I’m not sure if anyone else has done the same, but song the is by Band of Horses and it is called The Funeral (and you guessed it, it’s about a funeral).
For a while I’ve been one of those who believe that the mother, in the future (where older Ted is telling his kids the story of HIMYM), the mother has either already passed or is close to passing (possibly due to illness or smth).
Now I believe it even more, because it is a very strange song to be playing considering it’s the scene where Ted finally meets the mother. That coupled with the scene a few episodes back where Ted knocks on the mothers door and talks about wishing he could’ve had more time with her (or smth along those lines).
That song may be some good foreshadowing.
